Teachers gherao DoE
MADHYAPUR THIMI: Teachers’ Union of Nepal today gheraoed the Department of Education disrupting regular work to pressure the government to implement their 11-point agreement reached between the then government and the union two years back. Krishna Prasad Dhakal, president of TUN, said they were protesting to draw the government’s attention to implement the past agreements reached with the teachers’ union and the government.
“We are also protesting the current budget as it has failed to announce even a single programme to address the problems concerned with education and teachers,” said Dhakal.
TUN has been strongly demanding the implementation of the past pact between the government, private education institutions and the teachers. The TUN is demanding permanent position for temporary teachers, declaring the teachers killed during the insurgency as martyrs and compensation for the displaced teachers.
