Teen stabbed in girls' brawl in Satdobato after war of words on Facebook

KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Police Circle, Satdobato, today has reportedly rounded up a group of girls involved in stabbing a teenage girl and her friends with knives in Lalitpur on Tuesday evening.

The injured has been identified as Kopila Giri (17), a permanent resident of Banepa, currently residing in Satdobato.

Police identified the suspect as Lila Magar (17) of Nuwakot; Salina Rai Sunuwar (17) of Okhaldhunga currently residing in Shantinagar; Suman Rai (27) of Sunsari residing in Bouddha; Rajina Rai(17) of Okhaldhunga residing in Bouddha; and Kamana Rai(17) of Sunsari residing in Balkhu.

According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Yadav at the MPC, the group of girls stabbed Giri with knives in Satdobato at around 6:30 pm yesterday,  inflicting serious injuries on her head, hands and legs.

Critically injured Giri is said to be unable to speak after the incident.

Giri and Magar were friends on Facebook and did not know each other in person, informed DSP Yadav. Prior to the incident, the girls had sworn at one another following trolls and arguments on the facebook group chat, he said.

Giri had vehemently dared Magar and her friends to go to Hattiban if they wanted to fight with her while Magar warned that she would go to Satdobato to take up the challenge, DSP Yadav said and added, in a fit of rage, Magar rounded up her friends and went to hunt Giri and her friends in Satdobato.

Meanwhile, Giri is undergoing treatment at the Dhapakhel-based Sumeru Hospital, said police.

The investigation into the case is underway and the search is on for others involved in the brawl, informed police.
