Theatre owners move apex court
Kathmandu, November 16:
Eight cinema hall owners moved the Supreme Court today, challenging the government’s decision to impose film development charge on them.
Triratna Manandhar, owner of Aasta Narayan Pictures, Mohan Sarraf of Bishwo Jyoti, Nakim Uddin of Vision Quest, Rajendra Shakya of Gun Cinema, Pradip Kumar Udaya of Butwal Chalchitra Mandir, Hari Prasad Dwa of Kalika Chalchitra Mandir, Kishor Shaha Teli of Girija Chalchitra have filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court.
The writ petitioners have demanded an apex court order to the Prime Minister’s Office and the Cabinet, Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Law, Justice and Constituent Assembly Affairs and the Inland Revenue Department to review the decision against the Nepali film
industry.
