TU, Norwegian Institute launch MSESSD in IoE

Institute of Engineering as well as Nepal and Norwegian Institute of Science and Technology, Norway, have jointly launched a new programme in the Masters level at the Department of Architecture, Central Campus, Pulchowk, Lalitpur.

Masters of Science in Energy for Sustainable and Social Development course was officially launched at a programme held at IoE yesterday.

Inaugurating the programme, Prof Triratna Bajracharya, Dean of IoE, said the new programme focused on various dimensions in the fields of energy and sustainability.

Dr Martina Keitsch, Associate Professor of NTNU as well as coordinator of MSESSD programme in Nepal from NTNU, stressed the need for further collaboration between NTNU and IoE. She said, “At present we have agreed to work together for this programme till 2019.” Currently, MSESSD programme has 16 MSc students and will have ten PhD students soon.

According to Associate Professor Dr Sushil B Bajracharya, who is also MSESSD Programme Coordinator from Nepal, the courses will be conducted by professors of NTNU, Norway and IoE.

MSESSD coordinators from both the countries gave orientation to MSc students in the second half of the day after the opening ceremony.

They said the multi-disciplinary sandwich programme which deals with sustainable energy planning, designing and policy making in urban and rural context of the country was offered to students who are architects,
