KATHMANDU, AUGUST 22

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has arrested two persons with Rs 16,000 in bribe they allegedly received from a service-seeker.

They have been identified as chairperson of school management committee of Shree Siddhi Secondary School in Kageshwor Manhara Municipality, Kathmand, Rajkumar Thapa and headmaster of the same school Buddhi Bilas Dhital.

According to a press release issued by the CIAA, Chairperson Thapa and headmaster Dhital had demanded a bribe of Rs 16,000 from a service-seeker while returning the original transcript he submitted during an interview taken for the selection of a teacher in the school. The duo had allegedly threatened to hold the original trascript if he did not pay the bribe money as demanded.

The anti-graft body said Thapa and Dhital were arrested with the bribe they received from the service-seeker.

Meanwhile, the CIAA has filed a charge-sheet at the special court against them, seeking maximum punishment under section 3 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002. If convicted, they will be liable to jail sentence and a fine equal to the amount in question, in addition to dismissal from service.
