KATHMANDU: The Narcotics Control Bureau of Nepal Police on Tuesday arrested two Malaysian nationals in possession of 1.5 kg cocaine from a hotel in Thamel of Kathmandu.

The haul is worth around Rs 30 million in the current market, according to police.

Alice Joseph (passport number: A 39234489) and Magenthiran Rajah (passport number: A 35518720) were arrested by a special team deployed from the NCB yesterday.

Organising a press conference today, the NCB said police were collecting information about their illegal activities in Kathmandu since a long.

Police said Rajah, a dancer by profession, had come to Kathmandu for a purchase of some cultural items for his practice earlier. But, a person named Kirubanthan asked him to go to Hong Kong with a bag of the illegal drug, police added.

Joseph, on the other hand, was involved in smuggling the drug from Brazil to Nepal, according to police.

While Rajah had landed in Nepal on Monday and was scheduled to leave for Hong Kong on Tuesday, Joseph had landed in Nepal from Abu Dhabi just yesterday, according to police.
