KATHMANDU, JUNE 1

The Standing Committee meeting of the ruling CPN-UML has begun in Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's official residence in Baluwatar.

The meeting that was first scheduled for Sunday and was later rescheduled twice, finally resumed at around 12:00 pm on Tuesday.

According to a UML SC member, the meeting will discuss internal affairs of the party, including the recent clarification episode, wherein the committee sought explanation from several party leaders for their alleged anti-party activities.

It is unlikely that the party will take a decision on taking action against the leaders for failing to provide a clarification as it has been reported that representatives from both the factions are currently engaging in dialogues to chalk strategies to erase differences between the two warring groups.

Meanwhile, the budget that was unveiled by the government for Fiscal Year 2021/22 on May 29 will also be discussed at the meeting.
