UML task force to settle internal dispute on nominations

KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML on Tuesday formed a three-member task force to settle an internal dispute on nominations at the party's central advisory committee, various departments as well as zonal committees.

Party General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel heads the panel while Secretary duo Prithvi Subba Gurung and Gokarna Bista are members.

A meeting of the party secretariat took the decision today, the secretariat's secretary Krishna Gopal Shrestha said.

The party has failed for form party departments and the advisory panel owing to differences between two fractions led by party Chairman KP Sharma Oli and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

Among the panel members, Pokharel and Gurung are loyal to Oli while Bista is close to Nepal.

It has already been more than one and half years since the party elected a new Central Committee from its 9th general convention in July 2014.

Meanwhile, the Standing Committee of the party also held a meeting to finalise standards for the nomination.

The party's Politburo also held a meeting after the Standing Committee meeting.

The Standing Committee had failed to nominate members of the party departments owing to the dispute last week.
