The United States-donated 100,620 doses of Pfizer vaccine arrived in Nepal today.
The vaccines supplied by the US government to Nepal to fight Covid-19 in partnership with the COVAX facility landed at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu today aboard a Qatar Airways flight. This is the first time the vaccine manufactured by Pfizer-BioNTech has arrived in Nepal.
The vaccine is authorized for use among people aged 12 and above.
"We are planning to administer the vaccine from November 14 onwards to people aged above 12 and people suffering from diabetes and cancer, among various other chronic diseases," said Krishna Paudel, spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population.
The two-dose vaccine that needs to be administered within a period of one month must be maintained at minus 70 degrees celsius.
