Lalitpur, June 15:

A part of the budget meant for carrying out small-scale projects in 22 wards of the Lalitpur Sub-metropolitan City (LMC) will be frozen because nine of the wards did not submit proposals for carrying out small-scale projects within the given date (mid-June), the Planning Section of the LMC said, adding that it had written to the respective wards in February to submit the proposals in time.

The LMC doles out two lakh rupees to each ward for carrying out small-scale projects. Yesterday, ward number 10 of the submitted a proposal to the LMC.

Indra Bajracharya, secretary of ward number 10, said the budget will be used for black-topping the 100-metre Satu Dewal road, maintaining sewage pipelines and for maintaining the alleyway at Jwagal. While the LMC foots 70 per cent of the project cost, 30 per cent of the cost is borne by consumers.
