Who is responsible?
The LSMC is all set to repair 12 urban roads in 12 wards of the city before mid-July. It has already called a tender and will shortlist the contractors. The maintenance work is expected to start next week. Once the work proceeds it will not take long to accomplish it, says Rudra Gautam, chief of Public Construction Division at LSMC. Roads need regular maintenance but they do not get on to the priority list. Road Board under Division of Roads allocated Rs 5 million for the maintenance purpose and the municipality allocated Rs 2 million for the same purpose as a counterpart budget, he said.
