Winners of coveted peace prize announced
KATHMANDU: Dr Dilli Raman Regmi Foundation today announced that social worker Din Bandhu Pokharel and world cyclist Pushkar Shah would share the prestigious ‘Dr Dilli Raman Regmi National Peace Prize 2009’ for their role in spreading the message of peace in the country and abroad.
The decision to this effect was made by a board meeting of the foundation in tune with public opinion, said the foundation, issuing a statement here today.
The foundation had collected the public opinion by means of advertisements published in various national dailies.
The foundation also announced that ‘Dr Dilli Raman Regmi International Peace Prize’ would be given posthumously to Dr Tony Hagen, a Swiss national, for his role in spreading the name and fame of Nepal, globally. Late Hagen had written several books on Nepal.
National peace prize carries a purse of Rs 100,000 and a ‘letter of appreciation’. While, international peace prize contains an attractive gift sporting Nepali culture and Letter of Appreciation.
The award ceremony is scheduled for December 18 amidst a function organised in the capital. President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, Chairman of the Constituent Assembly, Subas Chandra Nembang, and Minister for Education Ram Chandra Kusawaha will attend the award ceremony.
