Youth climate meet begins
KATHMANDU : South Asian Youth Summit on Climate Change kicked off in Kavre's Dhulikhel on Thursday. The meet will discuss the agenda to be presented in the climate change conference scheduled to be held in Copenhagen in December.
Masudur Rahaman, Deputy chief of mission, Embassy of Bangladesh in Kathmandu; Environmentalist Bhushan Tuladhar; Najma Rashid, Director General, Pakistani Federal Ministry of Environment and Dawa Steven Sherpa, Climate Ambassador of WWF Nepal, addressed the inaugural session of the summit.
Sherpa, a young mountaineer, shared his experience as a witness to the shrinkage of the snowline in the Himalayas. Rahman and Tuladhar also urged all to work seriously on the issue of climate change.
