Nation’s biggest fashion gala ends on high note

Another exhilarating chapter of Nepal’s fashion came to a captivating conclusion, but not without leaving a trail of mind-blowing designs as the curtains were brought down on the seventh edition of Ruslan The Himalayan Times TGIF Nepal Fashion Week 2017 at Hyatt Regency on April 8.

The four-day event brought unique and awe-inspiring pieces crafted by well-known and upcoming designers. A melange of styles, innate creativity and effortless blending of tradition with modern aesthetics, along with artistic efforts was offered on the runway. The highlight of the show were the well-fitted designs, confident models and well-executed choreography.

The final day of the Week saw well-known designers like Manish Rai, Sushma Singh, Antee Gurung, Swornim Rai, Khusbu Rana and Siwangi Pradhan showcase their designs. Furthermore, the upcoming team of student designers Anjana Maharjan, Isha Dahal and Rachita Makaju, and Aarshi Karki, Shreeya Shrestha and Rashmita Raika proved they were not to be underestimated; their collections were praise-worthy.

Manish Rai started the grand finale with two beautiful collections — Chaotic Beauty and Behuli. An array of gowns of A-line and mermaid silhouettes mesmerised the audience. There was a variation of colours ranging from black to red. The beautiful crystal and sequin embellishments were dazzling. This was followed by a variety of bridal wear inspired from different geographic regions of Nepal. The designer sitara embroidery well suited the tulle fabric. Also the accessories went well with each design.

Siwangi Pradhan ended the show with a bang. Her collection reflected elegance at its best along with versatility. With a blend of modern cuts, unpretentious silhouettes, subtle colours and prints, Pradhan once again showed that with simplicity comes great beauty. Also the live band complemented the ending sequence.

The glitzy affair was sponsored by Ruslan in association with Tresemme, powered by Mahindra KUV 100, with Silk Air as the airline partner.
