How brick kiln labourers work brick by brick?

KATHMANDU: In many brick kilns of Kathmandu Valley, hundreds of Indian migrant workers work for living.

The labourers come to Kathmandu every winter for a period of around six months for the annual seasonal job. When an individual takes a total of 16 bricks to trucks to load, s/he receives a coin equal to 50 paisa (1/2 rupee).

In a week, on an average, a worker collects a total of 3,500 coins, which pays him/her Rs 1,750.
