1 killed, 4 injured in Jajarkot fire

JAJARKOT: A person died and four others were injured when a fire broke out at a hotel in Khalanga, the district headquarters of Jajarkot district, on Sunday morning.

Sangita Bohora (19) died as the Sangita Hotel caught fire today.

According to the District Police Office, the injured are the hotel owner Man Singh Khatri, police constable Gokarna Chand and two others - Ramesh Sah and Prem Rana.

The deceased is the married daughter of owner Khatri and she was at her parents' to celebrate the annual Teej festival.

The injured were rushed to the District Hospital for treatment, police informed. Khatri and Chand are said to be critical and the former has been referred to Nepalgunj for further treatment.

The inferno was taken under control with the help of locals and personnel from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army.

Meanwhile, police suspected that petrol and diesel stored at the building without any security measure had sparked fire. Rana had a petrol pump in the area and he had rented a floor of the house to store the fuel.
