KATHMANDU: A man died and another sustained injuries after the motorcycle they were travelling on was hit by a truck in Dhunibeshi Rural Municipality-7 of Dhading district on Tuesday night, police said.

The deceased has been identified as pillion rider Hem Kumar Yadav (24) and injured as motorcyclist Manoj Mehata (25), both residents of Madarsa in Sunsari district.

According to police, the incident occurred when the truck bearing an Indian registration number hit the motorcycle (Ko 21 Pa 9859) in Naubise Bazaar at 2:15 am yesterday, critically injuring the duo.

The injured duo were rushed to the Mahankal-based Bir Hospital, however, Yadav breathed his last at 3:30 am today during the course of treatment while Mehata has been undergoing treatment there, informed police.

Meanwhile, Area Police Office, Khanikhola has impounded the truck and search is on for the absconding driver, said police.
