14 students hurt in clashes

GORKHA: Fourteen people were injured when Nepal Students Union and ANNISU-R activists clashed in Drabya Shah Multiple Campus in Gorkha on Monday. Seven students affiliated with each union were injured. Critically injured Rupesh Bahadur Gurung, secretary of NSU Gorkha, and regional coordinator Saran Shrestha have been sent to Kathmandu for treatment. The clashes ensued after the Maoist-affiliated students reportedly attacked the NC-affiliated students at Dalbhanjyang of Laxmi bazaar. District chairman of ANNISU-R Kumar Tiwari claimed that the NSU activists had attacked them on Sunday. Security has been beefed up in the district headquarters following the clash. Meanwhile, NSU units of Drabya Shah Campus and Gorkha Campus have condemned the attack.
