KATHMANDU, JUNE 23

Nepal's coronavirus caseload reached 627,854 on Wednesday with 1,511 more people testing positive for the infection in the past 24 hours.

This is after almost a gap of two weeks that over 3000 Covid-19 cases have been reported in Nepal, wherein 3449 cases were registered on June 9.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 568,440 with 3,558 discharges recorded today.

81 more Covid-related fatalities were added on Wednesday taking the total death toll to 8,894.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, 12,414 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 7,461 were PCR tests while 4,953 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,295,514 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 910 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests amount to 2,421.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 90.5 %, while on the other hand the fatality rate stands at 1.5 %.

The country's active Covid-19 case count has dropped to 50,520 with daily recoveries exceeding daily infections.

In the same time frame, 346 infections were reported in the capital city while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 94 and 57 cases respectively.

So far, a total of 3,231,849 people have received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 2,500,196 have received the first dose while only 731,653 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

Currently, there are 425 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Tuesday, Nepal's coronavirus case count had reached 626,343 with 3,703 more people testing positive for the infection.

Globally, over 179 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.8 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 164 million people have recovered while more than 11 million cases are still active.
