KATHMANDU, JUNE 23
The long-haul domestic air services are set to resume operations from July 1.
Following the decision of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) is making necessary preparations for resumption of routine domestic flights from July 1.
The flights will only board passengers at a fifty percent capacity as a safety measure against the COVID-19 spread. The Civil Aviation Authorities have been directed to ensure the implementation of all necessary safety protocols.
A week has been provided to airline staffers that reside out of the Kathmandu valley to return to their work stations in line with the readjusted timing of the resumption of domestic flights.
Following the recent developments, airline companies have opened the ticket booking services as well.
Similarly, the MoCTCA has said that international flights can now resume services from Thursday. Moreover, a schedule for the timeline of the flights to certain international locations has also been published.
However, the MoTCA has only publicised a schedule of international flights that has enlisted timelines till June 30.
According to the schedule, the national flag carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) will fly to Doha while Turkish Airlines will fly from Istanbul on Thursday.
The other international destinations designated for flight operation are Japan, Delhi, Abu Dhabi, Oman, Dammam and Kuala Lumpur.
