KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 30

Over 1,700 vehicles entered Kathmandu following the clearance of the Prithvi Highway, which had been blocked by a landslide at Jhyaplekhola in Dhading.

Rishiram Tiwari, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, stated that the vehicles, previously stranded on the highway, have now reached the federal capital. Meanwhile, preparations are underway to allow outbound vehicles to leave the Kathmandu Valley via the same route.

Tiwari also noted that the Ministry is coordinating with relevant agencies to restore major highways affected by recent flooding and landslides caused by continuous rainfall on September 26, 27, and 28.

Additionally, passengers stranded along the BP Highway in Kavrepalanchowk due to flooding from the Roshi River are expected to be rescued by this evening. The Nepali Army has deployed a team to assist with rescue operations using ropes and aerial support.

Tiwari urged travelers to remain cautious of potential hazards due to the ongoing unstable weather and to take safe travel measures, noting that the risk of landslides has not been fully eliminated.
