KATHMANDU, AUGUST 22

Nepal's coronavirus caseload reached 747,733 on Sunday with 1,702 more people testing positive for the infection in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 698,173 with 2,248 discharges logged today.

On the other hand, the countrywide Covid-19 mortality toll increased to 10,509 with 24 more fatalities.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, 12,516 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 9,443 were PCR tests while 3,073 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 3,830,691 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 218 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests amount to 1,920.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 93.4%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.5%. The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 38,751.

So far, a total of 8,788,986 people has received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 4,942,250 have received the first dose while only 3,846,736 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

Currently, there are 421 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

In the same time frame, 395 infections were reported in the capital city while Lalitpur and Bhaktapur reported 110 and 61 cases respectively.

On Friday, Nepal's coronavirus caseload had reached 745,731 with 1,424 people testing positive for the infection.

Globally, over 212 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 4.4 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 189 million people have recovered while more than 17 million cases are still active.
