CHITWAN: A woman died after a truck hit the scooter on which she was riding, on Sunday afternoon in Chitwan district.

The deceased has been identified as Rupa Devi Kandel of Bharatpur Sub-Metropolitan City-8, who appears to be in her early 40s.

According to District Police Office, Chitwan, the scooter (Na 33 Pa 8903) heading from Narayangarh to Bharatpur was hit by the truck (Na 4 Kha 8542) moving along the the same route  at Sahid Chowk of Narayangadh in Chitwan at about 5:30 pm.

Kandel breathed her last on the way while she was rushed to a hospital in Bharatpur for treatment.

Police have impounded the truck and held the driver in the custody for further investigation.
