20 cases related to local bodies in Makawanpur registered with CIAA

Of the total complaints filed with the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Hetauda office, 20 are related to local bodies.
As per data, the highest number of complaints, five, have been filed against Raksirang Rural Municipality.
Of the 10 local bodies in the district, two complaints each have been filed against Indrasarobar, Manahari, and Kailash rural municipalities, while four complaints have been filed against Gadhi Rural Municipality and three against Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City.
Besides, complaints have also been filed against the then district development committee (now District Coordination Committee), which is accused of having awarded a contract to an unworthy firm.
CIAA Hetauda office Information Officer Dev Kumar Rai said most of the complaints were related to misappropriation of development fund by consumers’ committee, illegal taxes, work in variance with estimation of project development cost and irregularities in projects related to education, health and social security. As per the CIAA office, so far five of the cases have been settled.
As per data till mid-December of the current fiscal, a total of 634 cases were filed at the CIAA Hetauda office.
