KATHMANDU, AUGUST 28

Since June 10, a total of 210 people have died due to various monsoon-triggered disasters such as floods and landslides across the country.

According to police reports, the fatalities include three in Kathmandu Valley, 29 in Koshi Province, eight in Madhes Province, 46 in Bagmati Province, 56 in Gandaki Province, 38 in Lumbini Province, 14 in Karnali Province, and 16 in Sudurpaschim Province.

Nepal Police spokesperson Dan Bahadur Karki reported that 11 people were injured in Kathmandu Valley, 42 in Koshi Province, 12 in Madhes Province, 31 in Bagmati Province, 47 in Gandaki Province, 25 in Lumbini Province, 68 in Karnali Province, and 36 in Sudurpaschim Province due to landslides.

Rescue efforts have saved four individuals in Lumbini Province, two in Karnali Province, and 111 in Sudurpaschim Province. However, search operations are still underway for missing persons, with three missing in Koshi Province, one in Madhes Province, 43 in Bagmati Province, two in Gandaki Province, and one each in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim Provinces.

The disasters have submerged 408 houses and damaged 365 homes, 126 sheds, 53 bridges, seven schools, and two government offices.

Additionally, 972 livestock have perished, and 6,049 families have been displaced due to these calamities, according to Spokesperson Karki.
