23 persons participating in anti-election programme held in Chitwan

CHITWAN: Police on Thursday have taken under control 23 persons, who were reportedly taking part in an anti-election programme organized by Nepal Communist Party in Bharatpur, Chitwan.

Police intervened the programme where the speakers and participants alike were delivering anti-election remarks, according to the NCP Spokesperson Dharmendra Bastola.

The local level election is going to be held on May 14 this year after two decades.

Three of the NCP's cadres, who were burning tyres at various places in Bharatpur area, protesting the arrest of its cadres and leaders were also nabbed, informed SPĀ  Deepak Thapa, Chief of District Police Office in Chitwan.

SP Thapa said that anyone trying to launch anti-election campaign will be held.

The security in Bharatpur area has been stepped up following the incident.
