KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 12

Nepal's coronavirus caseload reached 824,222 on Sunday with 242 more people testing positive for the infection in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 806,778 with 234 discharges logged today.

On the other hand, the countrywide Covid-19 mortality toll increased to 11,554 with one fatality.

The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 5,890 against 5,883 a day before.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, a total of 8,682 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 6,268 were PCR tests while 2,414 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 4,714,778 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 12 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests amount to 254.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 97.9%, while the fatality rate stands at 1.4%.

Currently, there are 95 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

The capital district holds the highest number of infections with 119 cases in the country. Lalitpur is second in line with 30 cases while Morang has 14 cases today.

So far, a total of 20,571,390 people has received coronavirus vaccine across the country, of which 11,306,934 have received the first dose while only 9,264,456 individuals have been inoculated with both the doses and are fully vaccinated.

As many as 69,580 people received Covid-19 vaccine today alone.

Globally, over 269 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 5.3 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 242 million people have recovered while more than 21 million cases are still active.
