KALIKOT: Contrary to the claims by the authorities, three more persons died of diarrhoea in two VDCs of Kalikot district within the past three days.

The deceased are identified as Mahima Shahi (58) of Nugra VDC-1, Parichanda Shahi (65) of Gela VDC-2 and Samjhana Shahi (8) of Gela VDC-1.

Acting chief of District Public Health Office, Katak Bahadur Mahat, confirmed the deaths.

He added that more 17 persons in Gela VDC and 11 in Mugra had been critically ill due to the disease. He said a team of health workers that had already reached the afflicted villages was treating the patients.

Two persons had died of diarrhoea in Khina VDC of the district last week.
