300 Jajarkot households living in darkness

JAJARKOT: The dream of more than 300 households in Khagenkot-5 and 6 of Jajarkot district of illuminating their houses has not been fulfilled yet due to lack of budget to buy electricity utility poles.

Although 13 KW electricity generated from Khamaure rivulet has gone wastage, they have been compelled to live in the dark.

The areas have a majority of Dalit Communities. The locals said they demanded the District Development Committee to provide with the poles, but in vain. The locals had also requested the then Energy Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi for the same.

A local Ram Prasad Khatri said the electrifying action was interrupted after an estimated Rs 3.2 million was required for purchasing transmitter, electric wire and poles to get rgw power supply. He expressed his sorrow that no one was ready to help them.
