KATHMANDU, JULY 4

A total of 35 people have tested positive for COVID-19 over the past week. In addition, three new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.

According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, COVID-19 infections have been reported in 31 districts of Nepal between last December and early July. To date, 249 individuals have tested positive for the virus, and one fatality has been recorded.

In response to the rising risk of infection, the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has intensified COVID-19 surveillance by establishing health screening desks at 17 border checkpoints nationwide. COVID-19 testing at these health desks is being conducted using the Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) method, according to MoHP spokesperson Dr. Prakash Budathoki.

The Ministry has also urged the public to adhere to health protocols, including wearing face masks, washing hands with soap and water or using hand sanitizers, and maintaining personal hygiene to prevent respiratory illnesses such as COVID-19.

Furthermore, individuals arriving from COVID-19–affected areas or exhibiting symptoms consistent with the virus have been advised to self-quarantine or isolate, as a precautionary measure.
