BARDIYA: Four people were killed and 26 others were injured in a bus accident that was ferrying participants of a wedding ceremony met with an accident in Bardiya district last night.

The deceased were identified as Bishnu Tharu (17), Santosh Tharu (19), Niraj Tharu (19), and Arun Tharu (14), of Dhadhabar of the district, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Netra Mani Giri. They all died on the spot.

The high-speed bus (Bhe 1 Kha 854) carrying marriage procession plunged at Sainawar in Babai Municipality-6 of the district at 10 pm last night while returning to Dhadhabar, the District Police Office said.

The injured were rushed to the Kohalpur Medical College for further treatment. Of the injured, condition of the two is learnt to critical.

Police said that the bride and groom are safe as they were travelling in the next vehicle.

Police added that they have arrested the driver, Narayan Paudel (24), and impounded the vehicle for investigations.
