Epicentre near Saipal Himal triggers panic; authorities urge precautionary measures

KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 30

A 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck the western region at 12:09 p.m. today, with tremors felt across Bajhang and Bajura districts, according to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre in Surkhet.

The epicentre was located near Saipal Himal in Bajhang district. Local residents experienced panic as the tremor shook buildings and structures across the mountainous terrain.

The seismic activity adds to growing concerns about earthquake frequency in the western region, where mountainous districts including Bajura, Bajhang and surrounding areas of Sudurpaschim Province remain at heightened risk.

The District Administration Office, Bajura, has urged residents to take precautionary measures and remain alert for potential aftershocks.
