Muktikot Village of Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality in Bajura has received many cracks due to unseasonal rainfall and 51 families are at high risk of landslides.
The unseasonal rainfall a month ago has brought misfortune to 51 families in the village and they are living in fear.
Chief District Officer Gopal Adhikari, DSP Madan Jit Mahara, among others, reached the site. CDO Adhikari said that the situation was different from what he had thought. "Immediate relocation is needed, but it is difficult," he said. Adhikari added that his office had written to the authority concerned, and the local, provincial, and federal governments had to take the initiative to resettle the villagers.
He said the villagers were facing the acute food crisis on the one hand, and fear of landslides on the other. He added that the village was facing acute food crisis.
The villagers stayed at home when it was sunny and reached the nearby Muktikot Basic Level School if it started raining. Landslides had occurred in the middle of the village due to continuous rainfall a month ago.
Satal BK, a local, said cracks had developed in the village. More than 300 children, women, elderly persons, and the targeted group, among others of 51 families, were facing problems.
Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality Information Officer Kuber Shahi said that the victims went to the open space and the school whenever dark clouds gathered in the sky. Locals said that the victims could not get the relief even though the whole village was at high risk.
