Tilak Thapa of Kushmisera of Jaimini Municipality in Baglung lost his home to a landslide triggered by heavy monsoon rainfall three years ago. He was hopeful of finding a new home when he came to know that the government would be assisting them to rebuild the house.
It has been about two years since he submitted documents required for claiming the subsidy to the local government. Thapa represents 632 natural disaster survivors across the district who are waiting for subsidy to build new shelters. incident.
It is said the local government is yet to complete the process of making listed survivors eligible to receive the assistance.
As per government work procedure, compensation of Rs 400,000 has been promised for a house completely damaged by disasters in the hilly region. It requires 60 percent contribution followed by 30 percent from the province and 10 percent from the local government to provide subsidy under the monsoon-related disaster affected reconstruction programme.
However, the local government is yet to finalise the process for survivors to claim the subsidy. Following verification of the DAO, data of survivors shall be entered in Mobile app for the release of assistance.
