Action sought against CK Raut

Pokhara, February 5

CPN-UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai today said that action should be taken against CK Raut for his secessionist remarks.

Speaking at a function organised by Press Chautari Pokhara today, Bhattarai questioned whether the

security agencies and the administration were in his favour and that it was too late to take action for his anti-national comments in public. “The government must be firm in taking necessary action against CK Raut at the earliest,” said Bhattarai.

Bhattarai charged Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is also the Chairperson of the ruling party CPN-Maoist Centre, of not being serious about holding civic polls.

“The PM has not been able to work as per his promises and assurances. He has been a great failure in carrying out his responsibilities effectively,” he said.

He said now was the time to seek an alternative to the incumbent government. “The elections can be held before mid-May and the three levels of polls within a year, but the incumbent government led by Dahal can’t do it,” argued Bhattarai. He said there was no alternative to forging consensus among the three major parties and to taking the fringe parties into confidence.

He underscored the need to hold elections by keeping constitution amendment for a later time. “The constitution can also be amended after the election as per the need of the hour,” reiterated Bhattarai.
