KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 8

Nepal recorded 255 new coronavirus infections in last 24 hours, pushing the nationwide tally to 823,357, while the death toll climbed to 11,547 with two fatalities today.

Meanwhile, the total coronavirus recoveries stand at 805,571 with 366 discharges logged today.

The country's active Covid-19 case count currently is 6,239 against 6,352 a day before.

As per the latest data provided by the health ministry, a total of 12,174 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours of which 9,168 were PCR tests while 3,006 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 4,688,348 PCR tests have been carried out till date.

Similarly, antigen tests have confirmed 25 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total number of single-day infections from both the RT-PCR and antigen tests totals to 280.

The highest number of infections were recorded in the capital with 100 cases today, while Lalitpur is second in line with 31 cases and Bhaktapur third with 15 cases.

Nepal's Covid-19 recovery rate stands at 97.7 %, while the fatality rate stands at 1.4%.

Currently, there are 96 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

So far, a total of 19,568,329 doses of vaccines have been administered since the beginning of the vaccination campaign, of which 10,699,262 people have received at least one dose while 8,869,067 have received full doses.

Globally, over 267 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 5.2 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 240 million people have recovered while more than 21 million cases are still active.
