Pokhara, March 10:

Fourteen-year-old Khagendra Thapa Magar of Baglung’s Dhullubanskot VDC 6, hailed by the locals as the shortest male in the world, will go on display at an exhibition beginning tomorrow. The exhibit is being organised to support Thapa Magar financially and to help him get proper medical check-up, his father Rup Bahadur Thapa Magar said in a press conference today.

Those wising to see Thapa Magar will have to pay. He will be put up for exhibition for seven days at the Pokhara Shopping Complex at local Prithvi chowk.

Khagendra’s height is 20 inches and weight four kgs. He is so short that he can easily fit into a portable bag.

His father recalled the time Khagendra was carried in a bag to Butwal. Khagendra doesn’t inherit his height from either his paternal or maternal ancestors, his father said.

His nine-year-old brother, Mahesh Thapa Magar, is 3 ft in height and studies in the third grade at a local primary school.

Khagendra was born in September 1992. “At the beginning, I thought he would die though he was normal at birth. He began to grow up in time. It’s only two years since his growth has stopped,” his father said.

Looking at his body size, some neighbours had even hailed little Khagendra as an incarnation of god. Though exceptionally short, Khagendra enjoys normal health.

He has never had any illness beside fever, his father said, adding, he participates in sports like other children do. Khagendra’s voice is unclear but he comprehends what others say.

His father is interested in registering Khagendra into the Guinness Book of World Records, but is not sure how to enroll his son into the record book.
