Another light aftershock, epicentre in Dolakha

KATHMANDU: The National Seismological Centre recorded a light tremor of local magnitude 4.2 at 6:02 pm on Friday.

The second significant aftershock of the day, its epicentre was in Dolakha district, the NSC said.

The coordinates 27.74° N, 86.28° E, provided by the NSC, show that the epicentre lies in the Gaurishankar Conservation Area, east of Singati and north of Jiri.

Earlier, an aftershock of local magnitude 4.1 was recorded at 2:45 pm with its epicentre in Godavari of Lalitpur in the Kathmandu Valley.

Three light tremors were recorded yesterday evening with their epicentres in Nuwakot, Dolakha and Nuwakot-Sindhupalchok border area.

So far, the number of aftershocks of the April 25 earthquake of local magnitude 4.0 or above has reached 334.

As of now, the official death toll in the ML 7.6 earthquake and its aftershocks has reached 8844, while hundreds of people are still unaccounted for.
