Child abducted in Mahottari

Janakpurdham, January 16

Less than a week after a minor was murdered following his kidnapping, the abduction of yet another kid has shocked the public in Mahottari.

Nischit Pandey, 11, from Jaleswor Municipality, Mahottari was abducted yesterday evening.

District Police Office, Mahottari, said a group of unidentified people had abducted Nischit from Bhithamod Bus Park along the Janakpur-Bhithamod road section. The missing minor is a fifth grader at a local school.

Nischit’s father Nabin today requested the police, civil society and human rights activists to help secure the safe release of his son from the kidnappers.

SP Janak Bhattarai of Mahottari District Police Office said they had arrested three persons suspecting their involvement in the incident. He added that all the police units in the district were alerted about the incident.

The names of the arrested cannot be disclosed keeping in view the incident’s sensitivity, said police.

The intention behind the abduction is yet to be ascertained, police said.

Five days earlier, Chiranjiwi Mahaseth from Bhatauliya VDC-2 of Mahotatri was found murdered after he was abducted. The kidnappers had buried Mahaseth in a wheat field after killing him. Police have launched an investigation of eight suspects arrested for their alleged involvement in the incident.
