KATHMANDU, APRIL 20
Anurag Maloo, who was helicopter rescued from the deep crevasse on Mt Annapurna after more than three days to Manipal Teaching Hospital, had undergone cardiopulmonary resuscitation for over four hours as a major step to protect his heart and brain.
Since hypothermia was considered, a team led by Dr Ashim Subedi at the Emergency Department of Manipal Teaching Hospital applied whole efforts - not discontinuing the CPR, putting him on mechanical ventilator and giving him pressure drugs.
Accompanied by Dr Subedi and Dr Anil Bhusal, a military helicopter captained by Subash Khadka transported Maloo to Lalitpur-based Nepal Mediciti Hospital.
Dr Sanjaya Karki from the Department of Emergency at Mediciti Hospital had received Maloo and after further analysis transferred him to the ICU for further management.
A team of doctors comprising Dr Ashim Regmi, Dr Bijoy Rajbanshi and Dr Kishor Khanal are intervening the case at Mediciti Hospital.
Maloo's condition is said to be 'very critical' but medical interventions show some rays of hope.
While he is trying to move his body and his efforts in taking spontaneous breaths is considered a good sign, Maloo is still under ventilator support with pressure-raising drugs ongoing.
"Currently his blood pressure has increased and heart rate is okay, with scant urine output, Mediciti Hospital sources told THT.
