Adverse weather condition hampers search operation

KATHMANDU, MAY 29

A Nepal Army helicopter is being sent to Dhaulagiri region in a bid to locate the Tara Air aircraft that went out of contact this morning.

According to the Kaski District Administration Office, a Fishtail Air helicopter was first deployed to conduct the search operation, which was eventually rolled back due to adverse weather condition. Following this, the NA helicopter will carry out the operation.

As many as 22 people -- three crew, 19 passengers -- were on board. Of the passengers, 13 are Nepalis, four Indians, and two Genrmans.

The plane that took off from Pokhara at 9:55 am had gone out of contact a little after 10:00 am, on entering the Mustang-airspace.

Captain Prabhakar Ghimire is piloting the 9N-AET.

Meanwhile, a teachnical team from the Civil Aviation Authority and Tara Air are working to locate the missing plane, it has been learnt.
