Attempt being made to oust PM Koirala: Sujata

Dhangadhi, December 4:

Nepali Congress central member Sujata Koirala said today that attempts are being made to capture power by ousting Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala from his post.

Speaking at a press conference organised by the Kailali chapter of Nepal Press Union, she said: “The Maoists are trying to capture power by keeping everyone in confusion, but the NC will no more dance to the tune of the Maoists.”

“In the present context, there is no alternative to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and the constituent assembly (CA) polls will be held under the premiership of Koirala,” she said. “Maoist chairman Prachanda can become the president of Nepal only on the consent of the NC, but the Nepali Congress will never let this happen,” she said.

“The NC agreed whatever the Maoists suggested in the past, but now on, it will take decisions on its own,” she said.

“Whether the Maoists take part or not, CA polls will be held,” she said, adding that Maoist chairman Prachanda fears that his party would be defeated in the polls. The king will still exist even if a republican order is declared from the parliament, she claimed.

She also came down heavily on home minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula and said that the CA polls are impossible until he quits. “The security personnel are in hardship and they are losing their morale in Tarai due to home minister Sitaula.”

A report from Pokhara said NC leader Arjun Narasingh KC said his party would not accept the declaration of republican state from parliament and full proportional electoral system. He said so while speaking at the 13th memorial day of Narayandatta Ranabhat organised by Nepali Congress, Kaski.
