PCR test has been made free in Bajura district.
Chief of Bajura District Hospital Dr Prakash Raj Joshi said that the hospital would take no charge from patients for PCR test.
Bajura District Hospital had brought the PCR lab into operation at the district hospital some two months ago. As many as 176 swab samples have been tested since the lab came into operation. Of them, fifty samples tested positive for COVID-19.
Government hospitals charge Rs 800 for PCR test, while private health facilities charge more than 2,000. But Bajura hospital is taking no charge for PCR test.
Dr Joshi said that the hospital had not taken any charge considering the poor financial condition of people in the area.
Bal Bahadur Rokaya, a local, said patients would benefit from the facility given by the hospital. The PCR lab was brought into operation two months ago.
People were compelled to go to Dhangadi, Doti and Nepalgunj, among other hospitals, for PCR test before the hospital started this service.
The federal and the province governments had managed the budget for operation of the PCR lab in the district hospital.
With the initiatives of lawmaker Lal Bahadur Thapa, many other health equipment was also brought to Bajura. Not only COVID-19 test, but other tests also can be carried out in the recently set up lab.
