BAJURA, OCTOBER 26

Thewa Rokaya, 65, of Badimalika Municipality in Bajura, is struggling for life due to lack of treatment expenses.

The elderly was seriously injured after she fell off a cliff while grazing cattle in the nearby forest on October 10.

CPN-UML leader Ambar Khadka said Rokaya was facing problems in her treatment due to her poor economic condition. Rokaya's son Tek Bahadur said his mother needed surgery as her ribs were broken after she fell off the cliff. "We cannot afford 3 lakh rupees for the surgery even though she is receiving treatment in Kathmandu-based National Trauma Centre," he added.

Nepal Healthcare Equipment Development Foundation-NHEDF has been helping Rokaya withher treatment till date. NHEDF Chairman Samrat Sing Basnet has been helping in her treatment along with accommodation for the last two weeks. He said that it was difficult to manage the money for surgery.

Rokaya was referred to Seti Provincial Hospital from Bajura District Hospital as treatment was almost impossible there and the provincial hospital had also referred her to the trauma centre.

The hospital has given six weeks to collect the money for surgery. "My mother's surgery was stopped due to lack of money," said her son.
