DHANGADI, FEBRUARY 28

Life was partially affected in Sudurpaschim due to the nationwide bandh called by political parties to protest ratification of the MCC compact.

The bandh was called jointly by a six-party front, including the Netra Bikram Chand-led Communist Party of Nepal.

While no public transportation plied the road due to the bandh across the province, a few private vehicles were seen. Bandh affected life partially in major cities such as Dhangadi, Dadeldhura, Dipayal and Mahendranagar.

In view of the possibility of any undesirable situation, the administration had beefed up security at major intersections.

Meanwhile, police charged batons on cadres of the CPN in Mahendranagar.

Two persons were injured in the incident.

According to All Nepal National Student Union-Revolutionary Secretary Birendra Shah, the CPN-aligned organisation's Vice-chairperson Dipendra Eri and its ANNSU-R Kanchanpur secretary Harish Eri were injured in a clash with police.

Shah further informed that the injured were undergoing treatment at Mahakali Hospital.

Kanchanpur District Police Office Information Officer Lal Bahadur Bam said the security situation was tightened in the district in view of the bandh. Besides the Chand-led party, Mohan Baidhya-led NCP-Revolutionary Maoist, Rishi Kattel-led NCP, Ahuti-led Scientific Socialist Communist Party Nepal and others had called the bandh.
