NEPALGUNJ, FEBRUARY 08

Lack of fodder and a road passing through the park have put Banke National Park in jeopardy.

Banke National park has filed 75 cases in this regard. Of them, 38 have reached the court while 37 are registered with the park.

Of the total registered cases, 12 are yet to be settled. Though the core objective of the park is to shield wildlife, wildlife death is increasing as the national park is not wildlife-friendly.

Human-wildlife conflict is also on the rise.

For lack of fodder and water, wild animals are forced to venture out of the park. The road constructed within the park territory is proving a danger to wild animals.

Banke National Park Chief Protection Officer Shyam Kumar Shah said 30 wild animals were killed in accidents at the park in the past seven years. Wild animals coming out of the park have also caused damage to paddy and human life. Shah said the park office had distributed Rs 5.6 million in relief.
