Bharatpur Airport to be closed for 10 days

CHITWAN: Bharatpur Airport is suspending its flights for ten days from December 1 for the purpose of runway maintenance and parking-lot widening activities.

The Civil Aviation Authority, Bharatpur said that fights would come to a halt till December 10 for runway overlay works and widening of a parking lot.

According to the office chief, Pawan Kumar Gautam, runway overlay works have not taken place for about two decades. It has been learnt that early December has been chosen for the maintenance so that it will be completed before the commencement of Visit Nepal Year, 2020.

Five aircrafts each of Buddha Air and Yeti Airlines provide service on the Bharatpur-Kathmandu route and one aircraft each the companies fly along the Bharatpur-Pokhara route every day.

The airport which spreads over around 62 bighas of land has a runway 12,000 metres long and 30 metres wide.
