KATHMANDU, APRIL 7

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal stated that Bharatpur is evolving into a modern city, particularly noting advancements in education, health, tourism, agriculture, and physical infrastructure.

Addressing the 68th anniversary of Bharatpur Hospital in Chitwan on Sunday, PM Dahal emphasized the city's continuous progress in various sectors, including physical infrastructure and humanitarian development.

According to him, Bharatpur has made significant strides in the health sector, expansion of arable land, and urbanization. He recounted the establishment of Bharatpur Hospital seven decades ago when dense forests and bushes posed risks from wild and poisonous animals.

PM Dahal shared that Bharatpur Hospital had initiated programs under the Nepal-USA Joint Fund aimed at providing essential health services to the public. He expressed satisfaction that the hospital had provided specialist services to over 4 million people.

Stressing the importance of developing the hospital's physical infrastructure, expanding beds, managing skilled manpower, and providing adequate equipment for disease diagnosis and treatment, the PM assured that the government would take necessary initiatives in this regard.

On the occasion, Dahal agreed to the administration's demand to conduct MBBS classes from the next academic session, considering Bharatpur Hospital as a medical college of the National Academy of Medical Sciences.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population Upendra Yadav advocated for developing Bharatpur Hospital into a specialized facility, emphasizing the need for health treatment, education, and research to provide specialized services.

He mentioned the government's efforts to upgrade the hospital into a specialized treatment center.

Various local leaders, including Province Assembly member Uttam Joshi, Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City Renu Dahal, and Chief of District Coordination Committee Chitwan Narayan Prasad Adhikari, demanded that the federal government prioritize the development of the hospital to enhance its services.
