KATHMANDU, JUNE 24
Bharatpur Hospital has tied up with private hospitals to keep CT scan services running after its own machine broke down, leaving roughly 50 patients a day in need of an alternative.
Hospital spokesperson Dr Ram Prasad Sapkota said the hospital has struck a deal with the Chitwan chapter of the Association of Private Health Institutions Nepal (APHIN) so patients can get scans at the same rate fixed under the national health insurance programme. Hospital vehicles are ferrying patients to the designated private facilities and bringing them back once the procedure is done.
The nine-year-old CT machine stopped working after its X-ray tube failed. Since the replacement part has to be shipped in from the Netherlands, the hospital expects it will be about two weeks before the machine is back online.
