Bhutanese refugees’ plea to India for help

Damak, July 28:

Bhutanese refugees today called on Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to mediate for the resolution of their problem. Some 200 Bhutanese refugees living at the Timai Camp in Jhapa staged a sit-in at the Mechi Bridge in Kakarvitta for two hours and sent an appeal to Singh through Indian security personnel deployed there.

Chairperson of the Bhutan Democratic Youth Association Mohan Tamang said the appeal would also be faxed to Singh. As a good friend of Bhutan, India should help resolve the refugee problem, the appeal said.
